Cell Phone Policy

Important Note: The Cell Phone Policy included in the 2025-2026 Student Handbook & Parent Calendar was printed prior to the Executive Order issued by Governor Tina Kotek. The below information is the most current.

This year, our district is officially launching the Off and Away for the Day, which is a shared commitment to improving student focus, learning, and connection. Beginning this fall, all personal electronic devices (like cell phones and earbuds) must be turned off and put away during the school day.

This initiative supports both our district policy and a new statewide directive from the Governor aimed at reducing distractions and supporting student well-being.

What does this mean?

  • Devices must be off and away from the start of the school day until dismissal, so from -
    • 8:55am - 3:48pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (regardless of whether or not a student has a free period)
    • 9:05am - 3:48pm on Wednesdays (regardless of whether or not a student has a free period)
  • Exceptions are limited to medical needs, learning plans (IEPs or 504s), or with administrative approval in special cases.
  • We want students to feel confident, connected, and focused.

Our School Board will review and update our policy this fall to align fully with the Governor’s Executive Order. For details, you can view the current district cell phone policy here.

Thank you for supporting this shift. Together, we can build stronger learning environments for all students.
