Hybrid/Online Program Overview

South Medford High School offers flexible learning options for students who need an alternative to full-time, in-person classes while maintaining high academic standards. Students can choose between the Full Online Option or the Hybrid Option.

Online Course Overview

  • Partnership with Edgenuity provides a wide range of standard college-preparatory courses that meet Oregon graduation requirements.

  • Courses can be completed fully online or blended with in-person electives, CTE classes, and other campus offerings.

How Online Courses Work

  1. Orientation Week – Students meet with the Hybrid/Online Counselor or Staff, review program expectations, and learn where to access in-person support & online curriculum.

  2. Independent Coursework – Follow the course map with due dates; complete lessons, videos, quizzes, writing assignments, and projects.

  3. Final Exams – All final exams must be taken in person.

    • Location: Room D-203 or D-204
    • Time: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

    • Sign-Up: Students can schedule their exam through Canvas or arrange a time between 1st–7th periods.

    • Once a final exam is completed, the course is finished.

Full Online Option

For students taking 4+ online courses

In-Person Requirements:

  • Final Exams: Must be completed in Room D-203 or D-204 as outlined above.

  • Learn Lab Attendance: Attend when assigned.

  • Progress: Stay on schedule; falling behind without attending in person results in an absence.

Hybrid Option

For students taking 1–2 online courses

Details:

  • Students must take 2–5 periods on campus, depending on grade level.

  • Maximum of 2 online courses per semester.

  • Total enrollment cannot exceed 7 courses per semester.

Attendance Policy:

  • Attendance is based on in-person attendance only.

  • Students may work ahead and complete courses early; attendance is not required once an online course is finished.

Entrance Requirements

Online courses are rigorous and require strong commitment. Before enrolling, ask yourself:

  • Are you comfortable communicating electronically?

  • Can you dedicate 4–5 hours per week per course?

  • Are you self-motivated and able to manage your time effectively?

  • Do you enjoy working independently?

  • Will you take the initiative to contact your instructor when needed?
